Business Debt

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has hampered small businesses around the world — and your company is no exception. Like many small businesses, your company may be managing business income loss and struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic. Learn how to save your struggling small business.

Tips to Save a Struggling Small BusinessCOLLECTION TIME

There is no telling when the pandemic will end or how the business world will operate once it does. The longer you wait to save your company, the more difficult it can become to do so. If you wait too long, your business could fall apart. Regardless, if your small business is struggling, you must take steps to save it today.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach for small businesses to rebound from the pandemic. However, there are several tried-and-true best practices small business owners can use to cope with stress and save their companies. Here are five tips to help you save your struggling small business.

Conduct a SWOT Analysis

Perform a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis to assess your company’s competitive position. The analysis enables you to assess various internal and external factors and their impact on your business. It can help you build a strategic plan for sustainable business growth.SWOT Analysis

During your SWOT analysis, evaluate your company’s past and current performance. Use as much internal and external business data as you can. That way, you can get a complete overview of your company and what it has accomplished to date.

When your SWOT analysis is complete, set goals for your business. Oftentimes, it helps to use SMART goals; these are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. As you work toward accomplishing your goals, track your results. If you encounter any roadblocks along the way, adjust your goals accordingly.

Revamp Your Brand

Make a plan to transform your marketing. Consider how your business has engaged with prospects and customers in the past. Then, you can identify your company’s marketing strengths and weaknesses. From here, you can brainstorm ways to upgrade your marketing.

It can be beneficial to hire a web designer who can help you rebrand your company. This designer can offer tips, recommendations, and insights to help you optimize your website. He or she can also ensure your site is both desktop- and mobile-friendly and makes it easy to engage with prospects and customers from around the world.

As you rebrand, establish metrics to track your marketing results. You can use data analytics tools to track your marketing campaigns and how well your company connects with prospects and customers. Perform ongoing data analysis, and you can uncover prospect and customer trends and patterns. You can use these insights to consistently improve your marketing campaigns and get the most value out of them.

Let Your Staff Work Remotely Meet Virtually

If possible, allow staff members to work remotely. Doing so can be beneficial to your company and its employees for several reasons. For your business, letting employees work remotely can help you lower your operating costs. Comparatively, your remote employees won’t have to commit time and energy to travel to work. And together, your business and its remote staff can reduce your carbon footprint, too.

Manage Your Finances with Precision and Care

Establish a financial plan that accounts for your business’ immediate and long-term outlook. Next, you can figure out how to maximize the ROI of every business investment. It can be helpful to set up a separate financial account for your company. This account should be easily accessible and lets you review your business’ finances at any time.

Finance Policy Procedure Manual

These processes include fundamental accounting and financial themes such as capital planning, capital structure, asset and inventory control, financial reporting, and financial analysis.

Furthermore, keep a close eye on your company’s finances. Track every dollar you earn or spend. And use reports to monitor your finances as well. Meanwhile, if your business is struggling to pay its employees on time, consult with a financial planner. You can then receive expert guidance, so you can ensure your workers are paid and your finances are properly managed.

Pay Off Your Debt

Resist the urge to avoid your creditors. Rather, get in touch with your creditors and explore ways to pay off your business debt. Business debt can accumulate quickly and wreak havoc on your business and its business credit score. Yet the problem won’t disappear on its own. Conversely, if you are proactive, you can show your creditors you want to work with them to resolve your debt.

You and your creditors can then brainstorm solutions to ensure your debt is paid as quickly as possible. Your creditors may offer flexible plans to help you reduce or eliminate your debt. Keep the lines of communication open with your creditors and partner with them. By doing so, you can address your debt and prevent it from becoming an ongoing issue.
