A high school diploma is preferred. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential. Friendliness, pleasing personality, and a desire to assist customers are needed.
Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
Activities require the ability to remain in a stationary position 80% or more of the time and occasionally move about the facilities to locate and retrieve goods or personnel, assist other cashiers, etc.
Occasional heavy lifting (25+ lbs. / 11.34+ kg) can be expected. Good manual dexterity required for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computer terminals, bar code scanners).
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of standing or sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor/register, scanner, and phone.
