The Telecommunications Manager oversees the configuration, installation, and maintenance of – as well as updates to – the organization’s WAN and LAN systems, including network hardware and software. This includes the organization’s voice, fax, and A/V systems (e.g., teleconferencing).
Reports directly to the Network and Computer Systems Administrator. Works with support technicians and service advisers to ensure optimal network performance and minimal, if any, downtime.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related discipline is required. 3+ years of experience as a network technician (troubleshooter) is also required. Computer network certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco, Microsoft) is desirable.
Must be able to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must have experience leading a team of 2 or more network technicians. Must possess good communication skills, both orally and in writing. IT project management experience is desired.
Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, and IT management is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.
The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the office (e.g., to access office equipment, install or repair computers and other office productivity devices), is required.
Using a computer while sitting for extended periods is common. Must also be able to position self to install and maintain LAN/WAN equipment, including under tables and desks.
Occasional lifting of 20-30 lbs. (e.g., cables, routers, storage devices) is expected. Good manual dexterity required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices), installation and repair tools, etc.
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Periods of sitting while using a computer or other device (roughly 50%) are interspersed with moving about the facilities to install, repair, or maintain network devices.
