The ISO Project Planning Procedure defines the scope and purpose of design and development (D&D) projects and assess their potential impacts on all aspects of your company (production, sales, marketing, IT, etc.) in conformance with ISO 9001:2015.

This procedure applies to all new products and product updates released by the company. (26 pages, 6590 words)

Project Planning Responsibilities

The Project Development Team gathers, documents, analyzes, and reports on information identifying needs for new products or enhancements of existing products.

The Project Manager creates a project description, identifies the resources required to successfully execute the project, reviews the project definition and Project Plan with Top Management, and – once the Plan is approved – manages it (ensures/oversees implementation, manages changes, etc.).

Top Management is responsible for reviewing and approving (or rejecting) the company’s Project Plans.

ISO Project Planning Definitions

Rough cut – First draft of a plan, article, etc.; usually followed by several iterations of refinement (derived from lumber industry definition, “a cut to remove large amounts of material without regard for surface finish, followed by a finish cut”)
