I once witnessed a novice manager’s development, and it was very successful. This person managed to avoid almost all the typical mistakes of novice managers. Analyzing the situation, I realized: this happened not only because he is a great guy, possessing all the right qualities and skills of a good manager, but also because the absence of deep expertise in the subject area allowed this person to avoid many mistakes which are natural for an expert.
